In The News 05/12 – San Diego Welcomes Home Jessica Sanchez

According to reports, Cheryl Cox, Mayor of Chula Vista, said:

“Our community is thrilled to welcome home Jessica – she is already Chula Vista’s Idol.
Her amazing talent and accomplishments are deserving of this grand celebration.
We are so proud of her.”

Jessica Sanchez had a busy weekend, she went to San Diego that started Friday evening as part of her Top 3 American Idol reward.. She left Hollywood in a helicopter that landed in Petco Park Friday at 6:30 p.m. She made a quick stop to the Fox 5 San Diego studio where she was greeted by cheerleaders and her fans.

The city prepared a whole-day activity for the 16 year-old Top 3 American Idol finalist. It  started with a parade at 10:15 am then a mini concert at the Eastlake High at the Titan Football Stadium and afterwards a  U.S.S. Midway Museum show  in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The public tour begins with Jessical rides for a short parade with the Eastlake High marching band starting at Eastlake Parkway then down Otay Lakes Road, and end Eastlake High School for a special homecoming rally.
After the parade, a mini-concert was held where Jessica  serenades her supporters.

In the afternoon, Jessica proceed to the USS Midway Museum for a mini-show.This is the same place where it all began.Jessica beat out tens of thousands of hopefuls who auditioned nationwide for the 11th season of the popular Fox singing program, including an estimated 9,000 who jammed Petco Park last July. In October, a vetted crowd was invited to sing for celebrity judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler aboard the Midway.

After all of the fun, Sanchez took off in a helicopter from the bow of the ship., bound for Hollywood.
