Top 6 Perform

As the competition continues to heat up, the Top 6 contestants performed a Queen song followed by a song of their own choice. But who will withstand the pressure and make it to the finale? Check out the highlights from the show. Click here.

Tonight we get back to the action, and there should be plenty of action this evening. The theme for tonight’s Top 6 is the music of Queen, and a song of their own choice.

Jessica sang  ‘ Bohemian Rhapsody ‘.

Jessica Sanchez starts the night off with arguably the biggest challenge: singing Bohemian Rhapsody. She does an interesting job with it, kind of putting a modern twist on it. That was a nice way to open up the show. Steven loved it, “I think Freddie Mercury would be proud to hear that,” Steven Tyler says. However, “singing rock isn’t your forte.”

Jennifer agrees although  Jennifer thought it needed more rock in the performance.  “The vocal was beautiful. I just wish I would’ve had a little bit more of that” rock performance.

Randy liked it, though, thinking Jessica showed restraint, a change of pace from her usual performances. He thinks she should channel some Tina Turner if she wants to sing rock.

Randy, however, thought it was great – restrained and lovely.

Jessica sang ‘Dance with my Father’.

Crusty is on stage again, talking to Jessica, and she will be singing Dance With My Father, great ballad from Luther Vandross. As a “daddy’s girl” ,she dedicated this song to her father Gilbert Sanchez who will be deploy in Singapore. She does an outstanding job with the song, really bringing it up to date and sounding gorgeous. The judges loved it,  even  Jennifer thought it was the best version of the song she has heard.
